Program Information
The EMT - Paramedic program is designed to prepare competent entry-level Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledgeable), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. This program will prepare graduates for a career in the emergency medical profession. First-responders are dispatched via ambulance service or fire department to the scene of the emergency (e.g. car accident, fire, falling injury, animal bite, a shooting or stabbing, a birth, or a chronically or suddenly ill person). Once at the scene of the emergency, EMTs assess the situation, and, if necessary, order additional help.
The EMT - Paramedic program offers an associate degree and two certificate options. Credit for courses in the certificates also can be applied toward the associate degree.
Scheduling and Entry Options
Day and evening classes are available for program courses. General Education courses are offered both day and evening and can be completed anytime during the program. Full-time students can complete the program in five semesters, including one Summer Term. Program courses build on each preceding course and must be successfully completed in sequence.
